Trump & Evangelical Christians

As an evangelical Christian myself I lament how evangelicals have allowed themselves to be captured by Trump.  I suspect that almost every American and many throughout the world are closely watching this race.  Many know that evangelical Christians have been and unfortunately still are a big supporter of Trump.  And some even speculate that the evangelical voting block is responsible for giving Trump the White House in 2016.  I even suspect that when the average person hears the word evangelical their first association is Trump and not Jesus.  What a tragedy!​

I believer that an unintended consequence of the evangelical support for Trump is that such support adversely affects our witness for Christ.  Jesus frequently spoke on the value of truth.  He said, “I am the way, and the truth and the life.”  If we Christians cannot acknowledge the truth of Trump - a deeply flawed person unworthy of leading our great nation, then the world is not likely to see our truth in Jesus.  For many this hypocrisy will be just too much.
